Gordon MacRae was born and brought up in Glasgow. His first career was as an Analytical Chemist for the Scotch Whisky industry before he was called to Ministry among the Ochil Hills and studied Divinity at Glasgow University.
He served God in Ayr and was minster of the Church Garden during the Glasgow Garden Festival. Gordon married his best friend and minister of Martyrs’ Church in Townhead, Elaine Lawson, in 1989 and was called to Tron St. Mary’s. The manse family, now blessed with a daughter Philippa, moved to Kippen and Thornhill in West Stirlingshire.
Elaine was subsequently called to the neighbouring charge of Buchlyvie and Gartmore. Gordon was then called to serve the parish and community of Stepps and a while later Elaine joined her present church family in St Enoch’s.
Philippa, Elaine and Gordon live in perfect harmony at the manse in Stepps with their beloved dog Sam.
