December Notices - Love Builds Hope

At the end of one of the most difficult years the world has ever faced we invite you to stand together with us today as we build hope for the poorest and most vulnerable people. In the face of storms, drought, and disease your love builds hope.

Your love builds hope for people like Imote in Nigeria who has struggled to feed his young family due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Your love builds hope for women like Kawite in Ethiopia; a mother on the frontline of the climate crisis.

Join us this Christmas to build hope for communities facing terrible crises across the world.
When crisis threatens love builds hope.

This year we have learned that together we can face a global crisis - now we stand in solidarity with our neighbours still facing crisis with a love for our neighbours that builds hope.

On this first Sunday of advent we join churches across the United Kingdom in coming together with carols for Christian Aid.

Today we launch our Christmas Appeal in support of Christian Aid and as such we invite you to support us in giving to the most vulnerable families in our overseas communities. Details of how you can donate to Our Christian Aid Christmas Appeal are in your December issue of Prospect and can easily be done online using our designated JustGiving page and will be promoted during the season of Advent on our Facebook page.

Those who would prefer the traditional method can still support our Christmas Appeal using the Christian Aid envelopes. These can be found in the church near the door as you enter and as you leave as well as on the information table if you are visiting the church on a Thursday morning or when we re-open soon.
We also encourage you to follow the Christian Aid Advent Prayer Chain.

The sanctuary will be opened each Thursday morning between 10:00 and 12:00 PM. Inside the church you will find our Christmas post boxes for delivery of your Christmas cards and good wishes that we you may want to share with your friends from the congregation in and around the village. The post boxes can be accessed each Thursday when the church is open will run until Sunday the 13th of December so please do take the opportunity over the next few days to get up to date with your Christmas card writing and pop them in the box. A recommended donation of 30p per card or 4 cards for £1 is suggested, but you can of course contribute whatever you can afford. We just ask if you can simply avoid small coins for ease of handling.

We look forward to our Christmas Tree arriving next week to add to the festive banner that’s on the church railings. It will help make the church look even more festive but whilst that is inside we would also like to try and brighten up the garden space. If anyone has any spare outdoor solar lights that we can use to decorate the church grounds we would greatly appreciate using them. It would be nice to have some tasteful looking lights perhaps on the conifer tree outside or in the back-garden space.

Please, in the meantime, feel free to share your Advent messages and photos with us and we will try to show these during our services over the coming weeks.
