Remembrance Sunday 8th November 2020
Sadly, this year we are not permitted to gather in our usual manner to observe the Act of Remembrance at the Stepps War Memorial in Bluebell Park.
Instead, we will come together in the Church to observe the 2-minute silence to mark Armistice Day. Government guidance on Covid-19 states that we are not allowed any outdoor gatherings. We will revert to honouring our war dead by coming together with our community representatives, some members of the Boys’ Brigade, and two church members representing our Armed Forces, who will lay the wreath for us on behalf of the Church. We will, of course, be live streaming our Remembrance Service of Worship so that as many of us as possible can all come together at the eleventh hour. This year will mark 100 years since so many came to a halt for the unveiling of the Cenotaph in London and witness the funeral procession for the Unknown Warrior at Westminster Abbey.
