Fairtrade Fortnight Feb 21st- 6th March 2022

21st February - 6th March 2022

Take part in Fairtrade Fortnight

What is Fairtrade Fortnight?

For two weeks each year, at the end of February and start of March, thousands of schools, colleges and universities across the UK come together to learn from the people who grow our food and drinks, mine our gold and who grow the cotton in our clothes – people who are often exploited and underpaid.

Through learning about how we are all connected through the things we eat, drink and wear, young people are equipped with the knowledge and skills to shape a more compassionate and sustainable world.

Can you help us get the message out even louder this Fairtrade Fortnight? Sign up now to receive an invite to our preview event and be the first to hear about our headline events!

In 2022, our online Choose the World you Want Festival will return from 21 February to 6 March. Last year’s festival saw campaigners, shoppers, students and businesses come together in a show of support for the farmers behind our food on the front line of the climate crisis. From online panels to bake-offs and coffee mornings over 50 virtual events took place as part of our virtual festival, with supporters sharing the power of Fairtrade and what needs to happen next to ensure farmers and workers are put front and centre of conversations on how to tackle the climate crisis. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us more than ever how interconnected we are globally. This interconnection is at the very heart of the Fairtrade message and is where your role begins. You are part of the Fairtrade movement, and you have the power to drive long-term change, not only with your shopping choices but with your support in spreading the message.

Poetry for the Soul: Sharing Words of Solace and Joy, an online interfaith dialogue event

To celebrate the United Nations World Interfaith Harmony Week, Interfaith Glasgow, Cape Town Interfaith Initiative, and the Interfaith Center of New York invite you to join with people of all faiths and none as we share and reflect on poems from diverse cultures, faiths, and wisdom traditions that bring solace and joy.

The program will feature poetry readings from the US, Scotland, and South Africa, as well as small group discussions where participants can share their own favourite poems with neighbours near and far. This event will continue to build the sense of global community which arose from our 2021 World Interfaith Harmony Week collaboration.

You are warmly encouraged to bring along a short poem to share in a small group, although it is equally fine if you would prefer not to!

The program will be held on Zoom. All registered participants will receive the Zoom link and password by email closer to the date.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity January 18th-25th

This year's Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, based on the theme of ‘We saw the star in the East, and we came to worship him' (Matthew 2:2), takes place from Tuesday 18 January until Tuesday 25 January, with brand new resources available including a Scots Gaelic translation of this year's guide.

Each year ecumenical partners in a different region are asked to prepare the materials.

This year's materials have been prepared by the Middle East Council of Churches. The Christians of the Middle East offer these resources conscious that the world shares many of the travails and much of the difficulties that it experiences, and yearns for a light to lead the way to the Saviour who is the light that overcomes darkness.

Each day, there are readings, reflections, prayers, hymns, reflective questions and actions you can do. The ‘go and do' action ideas for each day are supplied by Christian Aid — linking into the important work they do in the relief of poverty and advocacy of justice.
